Internship Plan

I feel that I will have the chance to showcase my ability to work well with others and complete tasks and work well as a team. Also by proving my reliability and work ethics at a high level. The only question I really have is, will I be accepted in the work environment and culture of the company? And will I be stereotyped before they see my work? I would love to work in an open free environment with plenty of room to express my ideas and creativity. I would hate to work in an environment with nothing but close minded people who aren’t open to suggestions and feedback. I feel I will work well under an energized manager who looks for effort more than mistakes, because we all make mistakes in life. While at my internship, I hope to develop the skills of being social and networking in any environment. At my internship I plan to stand out by staying late, going above and beyond expectations, and treating every day at work like it could potentially be my last. My plan after internship is to apply my knowledge from the learning and development phase and my internship and apply it to my future jobs and my everyday life.

Christmas Break 2

My family is the type of  family that doesn't check on one another. The only thing we did as a family is watch sports over the Christmas break and watch the Oakland Raiders lose to the San Diego Chargers. Everybody was upset and confused about the performance of their team and their efforts. This crushed my family's hopes and their playoff dreams. I actually thought it was funny that the Raiders lost because I'm not a true fan anyway. I was sad because most of my family left after the game and I felt like we should have spent more time as a family together. I don't feel like the time we spend together should be based on watching a sports game or the end of a T.V show. The moments were good while they lasted and I'm thankful to have family members that actually care about me, even if we rarely see each other.

Christmas Break

I finally got a chance to exercise and play basketball over the break and it was a great feeling. I got a chance to relieve stress and take my frustrations out on the court. It had been over a month since i had played and that isn't usually like me. I played for at least 3 hours and Jay Hammonds joined me as well. I also played a game of baseball ass well during the break. I usually don't play baseball, but i was invited and it was an offer i would not refuse. The most difficult part was trying to catch my breath because i was a little out of shape. This has motivated me to become more involved in my basketball community and exercising a lot more. I love to stay fit and stay healthy as a part of my healthy routine.

over the break

Over my Christmas break i spent time with my family from out of town. We all enjoyed a nice meal and each others presence. It felt so long since i seen my family and it was actually a special feeling. We all learned what has been going on in everybody's life and all the recent news. This was a perfect opportunity for me to explain Year Up and what it has to offer students. They were so proud me and i felt honored to be a part of the Year Up community. Some moments I wish could last forever, but this Christmas i will cherish everyday in my memory.

Internship Readiness

Internship readiness is vital for module 3. It is very important that myself and as well as other colleagues understand the importance of preparation. I look forward to working on my growth areas and any other aspect of my professionalism. I want to be a valuable asset to whatever company i intern at and to not be overlooked. I want to provide and add value as an intern and a future employee. Year Up is the foundation and it is up to me to follow the proper guidlines, in order to be succesful. I will take module 3 very seriously and use it as a stepping stone to further my career in the information technology field. I will attend Toastmasters regularly to help improve my public speaking skills, and lean on the staff and my colleagues for additional help. This community is more than a learning community it is the backbone for future success. I will also strive to want more from any upcoming opportunities and events that will help broaden my horizons, or career path. Most of all, I will follow the steps of a smart positive goal and apply it Year Up, my internship, and my daily life.

Best and Worst Jobs

I have had a number of 5 jobs in my lifetime. Ranging from a cook at a cheesesteak shop and working at Costco wholesale. By far, I feel that working for the cheesesteak shop was my worst job I’ve ever had. I had a mean manager who was never on time for anything and always blamed the employees for everything. The miasma atmosphere was depressing and made me want to quit everyday while I was working. Most of all, I smelled like rotten cheesesteaks every day after work. This stained my clothes, my hair, and my daily confidence. To sum it all up, I got laid off for leaving and going to my grandfather’s funeral out of state, after I had given the manager a notice two weeks in advance. This was a complete shock to me, but I was happy the torture of the cheesesteak smell and work was over. I soon began working for Costco Wholesale, which was not my favorite job. My favorite job by far, was working as a certified fingerprint roller, under a company called Certifix. I fingerprinted the providers for the In Care Home Service. This really helped me with my social and people skills. I had to work with people from all ethnicities and mostly those who couldn’t speak English. This really helped with communication skills through language barriers. I found myself asking common greeting words from different ethnicities, so I could be able to at least greet my next customer. I felt like both my jobs really helped evolve my people skills and how well I communicate with others. This will really help in my internship because I will have the opportunity to interact with people from different backgrounds. In the end, even if I hated the job, it helped my future.

Connecting Events

The mural shows and displays signs of depression during hard times. The color scheme is gloomy and uses dark mellow colors. This connects to present times because the Occupy Movement is similar due to the new class of poor people. The connection is clear because their our many deaths and wrongful actions taking place. The mural even shows a picture of the bank and the bank is part of the reason for the Occupy Movement. The mural shows a man in a business suit looking over dead bodies and my interpretation is the unjust actions of Wall Street. The protestors outside of the Wall Street buildings can represent the bodies in the mural in my opinion because they are willing to die for what they believe in. The mural shows the power that Wall Street has and the effects it has among society. The occupy movement is also about the imbalance of wealth throughout our country. The banks are wrongfully taking actions with their customer’s money and its causing a strain on society. The mural also shows the Wall Street buildings standing tall in the background as a symbol of power, but too much power is causing the poverty line to steepen and even those who commit suicide. This mural is very relevant to what’s happening today and shows clear similarities between both movements. I feel that this is a powerful mural that states a lot without words involved and if our society was wiped out;this picture will explain a lot about our extinction.
